Salute to Sedna

You send us the fish and whales and seals.
Though far beneath the ocean tides you lie,
The shaman hears your low complaints and feels
The cool unshifting weight of your one eye.
Yes, Sedna, when the winds on wavecaps fly
Then we will send him down to comb your hear
And listen in compassion while you cry,
That you may make our wishes known down there.
Forget your sorrow, goddess, and your care;
Your people here on land know all you do
To keep us fed and happy in the air
Above the waters answering to you.
Your sacrifice supports the people well
And so we honor you with tales to tell.
