Pine Trees and Magick
Pine trees were already ancient by the time our earliest ancestors gazed upon them. Against the frozen landscape the pines stood strong, silent, and majestic. Since they are ever green, they came to symbolize youth, strength and eternal livfe. We honor the pine at Yule, a custom later adopted by Christianity. To protect your health and youthfullness during winter, approach a pine tree when the Moon is new. Walk around the tree three times, chanting:
“As this circle is round, we are bound.”
Remove three green needles from the tree; give thanks and carry them home. Bind them with threads of red and green. In early spring, during a New Moon, release this little bundle into a running body of water. Repeat this spell again when winter comes.
