The Sacred Space of Self

There are many moments in everyone’s life (even in the most dedicated Witch) when there is not enough time to create a formal sacred space. Many Witches overcome this by accepting the idea that each person is their own sacred space. So when time is lacking, the clever Witch simply will use visualization to provide herself or himself with sacred sanctuary.

Another alternative is to have four items that symbolize the four elements. Each of these items must be cleansed, blessed, designated for its function, charged and placed in the proper directional points. Simply envision the four objects connected by a line of energy and offer a shortened invocation during which you may point to those spots.

Try this invocation when time is short:

Earth, Air, Fire and Water –

Hear the words of my heart;

Protection and power impart!

Remember even the abbreviated casting such as the one above is just as powerful as a long one. You must remain focused, intent and respectful of demeanor. You must have faith in the process and trust in your abilities as well as the desired results.

Even after using a shortened invocation to open your sacred space, do not forget to thank the elements and close your circle.
